in Repose BooBoo was rescued from a vacant lot by a neighbor,
whose kindness prevented certain death by malnutrition. Autistic,
destructive, silent when she first arrived, she was brought back to life
by the good graces of Declan. Now she never shuts up!

 | Kanaka Prowls Kanaka, former denizen of Burbank, was abandoned by his guardians at age
seventy-something, though he vigorously rejects American culture's
preoccupation with chronological age, believing it's the age of a
reptile's heart that truly matters. Listen up, tortoise ladies!

Silvi and Declan Silvi with her patron saint, Declan who, like most of the beatified, was
not averse to a little (attempted) humpage now and then.

 | The Ladies The ladies: Spring and Iris. Spring was abandoned at the L.A. River
and found by Silvi in a patch of reeds. Despite the terrible
complications of her ordeal, she lived two more very happy years. Two
weeks after she died, her friend Iris, rescued from the pound, passed
away of a broken heart.
